I am Helen Thomas, Strategic Head at the school. I have been at the school for 16 years initially as a teacher and ICT leader. I had wanted to work at the school since doing a student placement here when I was training to teach. Working in a church school where strong Christian relationships are at the forefront was what made the school such a great place to be! I fully believe that mutual respect is one of the ways to ensure that the children are learning in a safe, happy and welcoming environment.
The children really do come first. In times when results and standards are putting an immense amount of pressure on all of us including the very youngest, it is important not to lose sight of my belief that school should be fun and engaging and somewhere that children develop into fully rounded individuals. We strive to offer a broad creative curriculum enhanced by visitors or trips and extended with a range of exciting after school clubs. The children are nurtured and developed by super teachers and teaching assistants who work tirelessly to meet the needs of every child. The school is also efficiently supported by its office, site and catering staff.
On a personal level I am married and a rather loopy cat shares our house! My husband and I love travelling and my favourite country is probably Italy. This is somewhere I went for many years as a child with my family in a touring caravan. I enjoy reading when I find time (usually on holiday!). I am an avid football fan and am a Nottingham Forest Season ticket holder. However the team I have supported since I was 8 years old is Liverpool. Unfortunately it is more difficult to get tickets though I have been several times.
